To keep things fun I've tapped a couple of friends - Julia Black and Jenn Hannotte - to contribute their views on design too. Enjoy!

Ask Arren > Chilewich Floor Mats

Hi Arren,

Great Blog! I was wondering if I could get your opinion on Chilewich Floormats. I'm thinking of ordering a large sized one 5'9 x 10' for my bedroom in either Dogwood (woodplank pattern light colored) or Seafoam. I have a light grey painted cement floor, and silver walls. What do you think of plynyl for the bedroom? I was thinking of putting a small sheepskin on top to warm it up a bit, but unsure if this is the way to go. The seafoam picks up some of the green in a black engraved chinese screen I have against the wall, and the neutral gray/brown dogwood mat could offer a bit more pizzaz. What do you think? I like to mix contemporary and midcentury styles with a variation of accent pieces.

Thanks so much for your advice!

Hi Alyssa, Love Plynyl and from how you're descibing your place I'd love that too! I think the Dogwood colourway sounds smashing, but I'd hold back on layering a sheepskin on top. Throw rug on carpet on concrete might just be a step too far!
