Arren Williams is the name, and I'm a stylist, editor and trend reporter. You'll catch my work regularly popping up in print in the likes of the National Post, House & Home and elsewhere. I'm also a guest expert on Citytv's CityLine, and you can occasionally find me on HGTV as well as on ABC 7 News in Chicago.

To keep things fun I've tapped a couple of friends - Julia Black and Jenn Hannotte - to contribute their views on design too. Enjoy!

Ask Arren > Bedroom wallpaper

Hi Arren,

I have a plain white bedroom (BM Cloud White) with medium coffee coloured bedroom furniture (ie two night stands, queen bed and tall set of drawers). The furniture is modern contemporary with silver handles and I prefer white bedding. My headboard and footboard are vertical slats with wide spaces. I would like to liven things up by doing something to the walls, either paint or wallpaper the wall behind my bed. My dilemma is what kind of wallpaper would look good with the type of bed that I have? I don't want the pattern it to clash or look like 'it's in jail". What would you suggest. (too bad I can't include a photo, hopefully the description is enough)

Hi Diana, Pattern and texture in a bedroom can be lovely but I would LOVE to have you think about wallpapering all four walls and not just one. As for a pattern, that really depends on your personal style, and if you're feeling a bit lost on that front - where it comes to prints you like - I'd suggest checking your wardrobe. Do you have clothes with small or large patterns, do you like to make a statement or prefer somethign quieter and more traditional? Hopefully that'll help put you on the road to making a choice.

I'd check in online at Graham & Brown for a great selection of wallpaper options, they're affordable, and have tons of styles that would fit different decor personalities!
